Description
A superb Sugar Pea with long slightly curved fleshy pods which should be gathered young and cooked whole. Height 105-120cm (3½-4'). Sugar Pod (Mangetout) type.
R = Round seed. Hardy, and can be sown in late autumn or January-March. DID YOU KNOW....? Round seed provides nowhere for water to collect and rot the seed, so can be sown in winter, but wrinkled seed collects water, so can only be sown when the soil is drier in spring.
Growing Information
Sown thinly directly into prepared soil at a depth of 50mm (2") in flat drills 15cm (6") wide. Allow 90cm (36") between rows. Support plants with twiggy sticks or pea netting. Grows best in a sunny position in well cultivated soil containing plenty of well rotted manure or compost.
