  • 'Jos Eijking' is a cultivar with intensely blue stems and flowers with a steely sheen that provide interest from summer to mid autumn. Reaches between 60-90cm in height. Attractive to bees.
  • Foliage: Deciduous. Habit: Clump-forming.
  • Position: Full sun. Aspect: South-, west, or east-facing.
  • Soil: Chalk, loam, or sand. Moisture: Well-drained. pH: Acid, alkaline, or neutral.
  • Ultimate height: 0.5-1m. Time to ultimate height: 2-5 years. Ultimate spread: 0.1-0.5m.
  • Loved by bees. Protection from winter wet is essential. For home use, propagate by root cuttings in winter. Although you can cut back flower stems after flowering the seedheads are a very attractive feature so are usually left over winter. May be affected by powdery mildews and root rot. Suggested planting locations: Gravel gardens, wildlife gardens, coastal, cottages and informal gardens, wall side borders, cut flowers, or flower borders and beds.
