- A compact deciduous climber to 1-1.2m tall, flowering from late spring to early summer and then again in late summer to early autumn. The small to medium-sized flowers, up to 7cm in diameter, are a mauve-purple colour with purple anthers.
- Foliage: Deciduous. Habit: Climbing.
- Plant in sun with the roots shaded.
- Soil: Chalk, clay, loam, or sand. Moisture: Moist but well-drained. pH: Alkaline or neutral.

- Pink outer petals that have a darker pink bar. Narrow inner tepals produce a spikey pom-pom effect. Plant in a moisture-retentive, well-drained soil, with the roots and base of the plant kept cool and shaded by other plants or a layer of pebbles at the base. Plant with the crown 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level. Propagate by layering or semi-hardwood cuttings. Flowers on current season's growth. May suffer from clematis diseases such as clematis slime flux or clematis wilt or powdery mildews.
